Semiahmoo Ravens Honoured with BC Hockey's Prestigious Frank Spring Award

The Semiahmoo Ravens Hockey Association is incredibly proud and honoured to be named the recipient of BC Hockey’s 2025 Frank Spring Award, recognizing outstanding contributions to community hockey and excellence in delivering a positive, development-focused minor hockey program.

As we are looking forward to celebrating our 60th Anniversary this coming season, this recognition reflects the dedication, passion, and commitment of countless individuals who have helped build and strengthen our association over the past six decades. From our volunteer Board of Directors, coaching staff to our players, officials, families, and office staff, this award belongs to everyone who contributes to making the Ravens a leader in minor hockey.

Executive Director Scott Ackles described the award as “a tremendous honour” for the association, noting that Semiahmoo has “a super strong hockey background in our community” and that the recognition reflects the work of many dedicated volunteers and leaders who help guide the organization.

Director of Hockey Operations David Newson echoed those sentiments, stating, “We’re pretty proud to get it. We’ve had a lot of good accomplishments this season,” while highlighting the association’s long-term commitment to player development, coaching excellence, and community leadership.

Semiahmoo Ravens Hockey would not be the success it is today without our outstanding volunteers, parents, and families who generously give their time and energy to ensure our programs operate efficiently and provide meaningful experiences for every participant. As Ackles emphasized, “Our association just doesn’t operate without great volunteerism which help all of our programs run efficiently. We’re blessed that way, and our hockey community is super tight-knit and strong in Semiahmoo.”

We are also grateful for the incredible support of our community partners and Premier Sponsors, including Scotiabank, Midland Appliance, Beyond Braces, Catalyst Kinetics, Buy Low Gas, Darby Photos, and One Agency Group. Their partnership and investment in local youth hockey play a significant role in the continued success and growth of our programs.

This award recognizes the progress we have made in player development, coaching excellence, and community leadership, but most importantly, it celebrates the people who make the Ravens family so special. We thank BC Hockey for this tremendous honour and look forward to continuing to provide a positive, inclusive, and rewarding hockey experience for generations of Ravens players to come.
