One Program, One Vision: Ravens Announce U18 Integrated Rep Coaching Staff for 2026–27

The Semiahmoo Ravens are proud to announce the coaching team for their U17, and U18 rep programs for the 2026–27 season—highlighting not only a competitive player pathway, but a fully integrated development system built on the strength of our coaching group.

This season, the Ravens plan to field two high-performance teams within the U18 Rep division: a U18A1 (Senior) team and a U17 Development team. Together, these teams are designed to create a clear, progressive pathway for athletes competing within a three-year age window, while aligning with new opportunities introduced by PCAHA.

The U18A1 team will consist of players born between 2009–2011 and will compete at a high level in PCAHA play. With a strong returning core, the group is expected to be highly competitive. The U17 Development team will focus primarily on 2011-born players, along with a select number of 2010-born athletes, competing in the newly established U17 division. This new division has taken the concept from last year and gone one step further to ensure a competitive division with all the teams involved, playing under the same structure. This will allow younger players to develop alongside their peers in a more appropriate and competitive environment, supporting both safety and long-term growth.

At the core of this program is a commitment to building a complete pathway—for players who aspire to continue to post-secondary hockey, and equally, for coaches who are developing within our system. The Ravens are intentionally aligning teams across U15, U17, and U18 to operate as one connected program. This integrated model allows for shared resources, consistent teaching, and ongoing collaboration between coaching staffs.

Our coaching group reflects the depth and strength of the Semiahmoo Ravens organization. Coaches are not operating in isolation—they are part of a coordinated development environment where mentorship, collaboration, and progression are central. Coaches work across multiple levels, gaining experience, learning from one another, and contributing to a unified philosophy that benefits every athlete in the program.

At the U18A1 level, Greg Van Unen returns as head coach, bringing experience, leadership, and stability to the program. Greg will have additional support from Cooper DeWall (U17)—further reinforcing the connected nature of the coaching structure across both teams.

The U17 coaching staff will be led by Cooper DeWall, with assistance and guidance from our U18 A1 Head Coach, Greg Van Unen, and our U15 A1 Head Coach, Keenan Scardina. This group combines playing experience, positional expertise, and a strong foundation within the Ravens and surrounding hockey community. Cooper brings a background as a recent junior hockey player who has been actively coaching for a few seasons while Greg and Keenan provide additional mentorship and support across the group.

This model creates a true development pathway—not just for players advancing through the program, but for coaches continuing to grow within a high-performance environment. It ensures consistency in teaching, stronger relationships across age groups, and meaningful opportunities for progression at every level.

In summary, our integrated rep coaching staff is as follows:

  • U15 A1: Keenan Scardina
  • U17: Cooper DeWall (supported by Greg Van Unen & Keenan Scardina)
  • U18 A1: Greg Van Unen (supported by Cooper DeWall)

Registration is now open for the U18 Rep division, with evaluations for both teams beginning shortly after Labour Day weekend.
